We will be celebrating communion together this Sunday morning. The act of communion during worship, more than almost anything else, makes me so very aware of the presence of God. It helps me guard against falling into a mindless ritual of singing songs, bringing an offering, praying a prayer, hearing a sermon—going through these motions without considering the awesome fact that GOD IS HERE!
As you come to worship this week, be mindful of His invitation to come and praise Him (as He listens), to bring Him offerings (that He receives with joy), to communicate with Him in prayer (listening for His whispered answers), to hear a message from His very words (wrestling with what response those words demand), and to share the table with Him (and inviting Him to make your heart more like His).
