Call to Worship

July 4, 2010

I’ve been thinking lately about the constancy of God.  He says in His word (Malachi 3:6)  I, the Lord, do not change.  What a comforting thought!  We may lose loved ones; we may get a different job; we may have to leave our home.  Laws are repealed or new laws created; poor health and loss of abilities could plague us; friends could forsake us; our entire society could become something that we hardly recognize.  Yet, when we come before God in worship, our hearts can rest and experience the peace of knowing that we are worshipping the very same God that Paul, the apostle, worshipped.  The same God that the Pilgrims, or John Wesley, or St Augustine worshipped.  The same God who was worshipped by Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  The very same God who created the universe!

As you worship, leave your anxiety and uncertainty behind.  God is a Rock that you can trust in completely.  He never changes; He never fails.

Holy One, Risen Son
You have been my shelter
You’ve set me free
And now I see
The light of the world

    I will worship You
No matter what I’m going through
    Waves crash down
    And flames burn high
Yet I will trust You Lord

(Bridge)
You set me free and now I see
A light that shines in the darkness
You set me free and now I see
The light of the world
